From Golf Cart Dreamer to Your Parts Guy
Hey, I’m Eli – The Guy Behind TheGolfCart.Shop
My love affair with golf carts started in 2008 with a red 1995 Club Car DS – fresh off a golf course retirement. My wife called it my “other girlfriend,” and honestly, she wasn’t wrong.
At our camp in Tug Hill, everyone had carts ranging from stock to absolutely wild. Weekend caravan rides through the trails were our thing. I lifted mine 6 inches, threw on some ATV tires, and even reupholstered custom seats with help from a buddy. That cart was my pride and joy.
When we moved to New England, selling that cart hurt more than I’d like to admit. But the golf cart bug never left.
The $100 Farm Cart That Changed Everything
A few years back, working on an organic farm in Vermont, I spotted their retired ’96 EZGO TXT – lifted, beaten up, but calling my name. Bought it for $100 and paid another $50 to a buddy to help me chain-tow it 3 miles home. It sat in my garage all winter while I dreamed and saved.
Come spring, I made a decision: sold the project cart and bought a 2021 Club Car Tempo (red, of course). Standing in that dealer’s showroom, it hit me – THIS is what I want to do. Help people find parts. Share the obsession. Build crazy carts.
The Current Fleet
These days, I’m basically running a golf cart sanctuary:
- The Tempo: Mid-LSV conversion with 70v lithium and Navitas motor (it’s going to be incredible)
- ’89 Club Car DS: Inherited from my wife’s grandparents – runs like a clock, used daily
- Parts ’89 DS: Because if you know old DS carts, you know why you need a parts cart
Living rural in New England, these aren’t just toys – they’re legitimate transportation. The gas DS gets daily use around our property – reliable and powerful for hauling whatever needs moving. I went electric with the Tempo because there’s nothing better than silently cruising through nature without announcing yourself to every living thing. The LSV conversion will make it perfect for quiet runs to town. Golf carts give us freedom out here, each in their own way.
Finding the right parts shouldn’t be the hard part of cart ownership. That’s where I come in.
Why I Started TheGolfCart.Shop
I started this shop because I’ve been on every side of golf cart ownership:
- The weekend warrior lifting and modding for fun
- The daily driver keeping a reliable cart running
- The vintage keeper hunting extinct parts for an ’89
- The dreamer with a garage full of upgrade boxes
- The practical user who needs it to actually work every day
Whether you’re building a trail monster, keeping grandpa’s old cart alive, or need reliable daily transportation – I get it. I’ve been there. I’m still there.
I’m not a massive corporation. I’m a guy with three carts in various stages of modification who genuinely wants to help you with yours.
Got questions? Send me a photo of your cart. Let’s figure it out together.
